Reflection
Scripture gives parents both high calling and gentle warnings, keeping instruction and affection together. places faith in the middle of daily life: when you sit at home, walk along the road, lie down and get up. Children learn most from what is repeated in ordinary moments.
calls children "an heritage of the LORD." They are a gift entrusted to you, not a project you must perfect. That frees you from the pressure to control every outcome.
is a short, honest warning: do not provoke your children, "lest they be discouraged." Firmness without warmth can crush a child's spirit. Patience, listening and apology are part of faithful parenting too.
Prayer
Father, you parent me with patience, so give me patience for my children today. Help me listen before I correct, and correct without crushing. Where I have been harsh, give me humility to apologize. Let them see your kindness in our home, in small moments as much as big ones. Amen.
