Reflection

The Bible frames marriage as covenant love that serves rather than consumes. measures a husband's love by Christ, who "gave himself" for the church. The standard is not what I feel I am owed, but what I am willing to give.

makes that love practical: patient, kind, not easily provoked, keeping no running score. Most marriages are not shaped by grand moments but by how two people treat each other on an ordinary, tired evening.

adds the repair work every marriage needs: be kind, tenderhearted, "forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you." Grace received from God becomes grace you can pass on at home. If your marriage involves abuse or danger, safety comes first; seeking help is not a failure of love.

Prayer

Lord, thank you for the person you have given me. Help me love with patience and kindness today, especially when I am tired. Soften what has grown hard between us, and teach us to forgive the way you have forgiven us. Make our home a place where grace is practiced, not just spoken. Amen.

Pause and consider

Choose one small act of kindness and do it without asking for credit.
