Bible verses about healing

Healing, prayer, and honest hope

Ask God for healing, and keep hoping while you wait.

Scripture

James 5:14-15Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

Psalm 147:3He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.

2 Corinthians 12:9And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Jeremiah 17:14Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for thou art my praise.

Isaiah 53:5But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

Psalm 103:3Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;

Psalm 41:3The LORD will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness.

Translation: King James Version (KJV)

Reflection

Scripture invites prayer for healing while placing suffering within God's grace, not a formula. tells the sick to call for others to pray with them. Healing prayer in the Bible is not a private performance; it happens in community, and it sits comfortably beside care, medicine and rest.

says God "healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds." His care reaches the body, the heart and the memories that still hurt.

is honest that some prayers for relief are answered differently. Paul asked three times and heard, "My grace is sufficient for thee." That is not a rebuke for weak faith. It is a promise that God's strength meets you in the weakness that remains. Keep praying, and keep following your doctor's care.

Prayer

Lord, I ask you to heal. You know this body, this pain and this fear better than I do. Heal where you will heal, and sustain me where you do not remove this yet. Give wisdom to those who care for me, and send people to pray beside me. Let your grace be enough for today. Amen.
