Bible verses about protection
Praying for protection without denying danger
Take fear, danger, and shelter into honest prayer.
Scripture
Translation: King James Version (KJV)Psalm 91:1He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
Psalm 46:1God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Proverbs 18:10The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.
Psalm 121:7-8The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.
2 Thessalonians 3:3But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.
Psalm 91:11For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
Reflection
The Psalms speak of shelter while recognizing trouble. Protection is prayed for in dependence on God, not denial of real risk. describes dwelling "in the secret place of the most High" and resting "under the shadow of the Almighty." It is a picture of nearness, not of a life without danger.
calls God "our refuge and strength," and the rest of the psalm imagines mountains shaking and waters roaring. Refuge is needed precisely because the world is not always safe.
says the righteous run into the name of the LORD and are safe. Running is an action. Praying for protection goes together with practical wisdom: locking the door, leaving a dangerous place, telling someone you trust, or calling for help.
Prayer
Lord, be our shelter. You see where we are vulnerable, and you are not far away. Protect the people I love and guide us toward safety. Give me wisdom to take the practical steps I need to take, and courage to ask for help. Let me rest in the shadow of your care. Amen.

Care and safety
If you are not safe now
If you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first. A prayer page is not the fastest path to physical safety.
