Reflection

Biblical strength begins with God's presence and help, not with pretending that the burden is light. promises, "I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee." The strength is God's to give, not yours to summon.

, "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me," was written about learning contentment in both plenty and hunger. It is less a promise of unlimited performance and more a promise of endurance in every circumstance.

calls God "a very present help in trouble." Present, not distant; in trouble, not only after it. When your own reserves are gone, you are not disqualified. You are exactly where this kind of help is offered. Rest, food, sleep and other people's help are also ways God renews strength.

Prayer

Lord, I am low on strength today, and I cannot pretend otherwise. Be my very present help. Hold me up with your hand, strengthen what is weak, and give me enough for the next step, not the whole road at once. Teach me to receive the rest and help you provide. Amen.
